Building on the success of the first edition of the enhanced prepaid card program powered by Hello, Développement Vaudreuil-Soulanges (DEV) and the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIVS) are renewing this initiative to support the local economy during the holiday season.

The announcement was made this Tuesday at Gâteaux Montréal in Vaudreuil-Dorion, with several partners in attendance, including Vaudreuil-Dorion’s Mayor Guy Pilon, Vaudreuil MNA Marie-Claude Nichols, a representative from Soulanges MNA Marilyne Picard’s office, Jeanne Turbide, Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges Board Chair François Paquin, and many participating merchants.

“This campaign showcases the true potential we have as a community. It demonstrates that by uniting our efforts and collaborating with regional stakeholders and partners, we can implement practical solutions, promote local purchasing, and significantly boost our local businesses,” said CCIVS President Mélanie Bossé, through CCIVS Board Treasurer Chloé Rousseau.

“A DEV study showed that merchants have lost up to 30% of their revenue over the past six months, and 83% have questioned their business's sustainability. Given these concerning results, action was needed. Programs like the enhanced card encourage citizens to shop locally and enjoy an in-store experience that’s unmatched. The Hello card is a simple, impactful tool for us,” stated Lucie Bourbonnais, President of DEV’s Advisory Committee on Retail, Hospitality, and Local Services.

“Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges applauds the dedication of DEV and CCIVS, as well as the participation of businesses committed to supporting local shopping. Such an initiative aligns with a vision of ethical or social responsibility, which is an increasingly important criterion for consumers,” noted François Paquin, Chair of the Desjardins Vaudreuil-Soulanges Board.

50% Bonus

To promote local shopping, a generous 50% bonus is offered on the amount paid by the consumer. For example, a customer who buys a $100 card will receive a prepaid card valued at $150.

A total of $35,500 has been allocated by all partners to support local businesses. These cards can be used at more than 150 participating businesses.

“We are thrilled to support local merchants with an initiative that directly impacts the regional economy. With 550 enhanced prepaid cards available, we estimate the financial impact at over $150,000!” declared Guy Pilon, Mayor of Vaudreuil-Dorion and President of DEV.

Local Gift Card for Individuals and Businesses

In addition to the enhanced offer, the local gift card is available year-round and functions like a standard gift card. However, it has a distinct advantage: it can be used at over 150 businesses, making it a perfect gift for a host, a teacher, or a loved one!

Additionally, a corporate option is available for companies wishing to gift Hello cards to their staff. Unlike last year, no activation fees are added to the card’s value. With just a few clicks, purchase vouchers can be bought and printed, ready to be distributed to company employees.

It’s important to note that the 50% bonus offer is not applicable to gift cards.

Simple and Secure

The Hello program stands out for its simplicity and accessibility. Consumers pay no additional fees to use their Hello card. It operates like a standard Visa card, ensuring a smooth, secure, and hassle-free experience for all.

Those who already have a Hello card can quickly activate the voucher code to access the credited amount on their card. New users will need to create an account, activate their purchase code to redeem the amount, and wait a few days to receive their physical card by mail.

We invite the public to participate in this initiative, which not only supports our local businesses but also offers citizens the opportunity to stretch their holiday budget. Together, let’s make this season a time of solidarity and prosperity for Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
