The City of Vaudreuil-Dorion has recently begun work on the Paul-Gérin-Lajoie park, located near the Cité-des-Jeunes high school. The work will be carried out in two phases and completed in spring 2025, according to information obtained from the municipal administration.

The aim of the project is to add new equipment to entertain the young and old who come to enjoy this green space. When the work is completed, the park will be home to two additional volleyball courts and a training area. This is the winning project of the 2023 participatory budget.

A permanent lighting system will be installed for all the facilities: skateboard park, volleyball courts and training area, so that visitors can stay after dark.

Street furniture and a drinking fountain will also be added to the park. A concrete slab will be poured at the site of the annual bunker.

What is the timetable for the project? According to what the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion told Néomédia by e-mail, by November 28, the concrete slab and volleyball courts will be installed. Electrical work, lighting, furniture and containers are scheduled for next spring. The training equipment will be installed in May 2025.

What is the budget for the project? It's too early to say. “We are in the process of finalizing certain mandates. Once the contracts have been awarded, we'll be able to give you the final amount", it says.

Finally, it should be pointed out that no other projects of this kind are planned in the city's parks between now and the end of the current year.
