At a special meeting held on Wednesday, October 30 at 6 p.m., the Rigaud municipal council, in the absence of municipal councillor Alain Lapointe, unanimously adopted the suspension of General Manager Maxime Boissonneault. In office since August 29, 2022, he has been relieved of his duties without pay for an indefinite period.

During the same meeting, elected officials appointed Assistant General Manager Julie Rivard as Assistant Treasurer of the Ville de Rigaud. They then passed a number of resolutions enabling her to exercise administrative powers during the Director General's indefinite absence, namely the signing of collective agreements, employment contracts, cheques and other documents.

Few details of the case were divulged at the special meeting. As far as we were able to ascertain, Mr. Boissonneault has been out of office since Friday, October 18. An administrative investigation has been launched in the field of employment law. What is the source of this investigation? The mayor refused to answer the question posed by a citizen, specifying that she could not reveal anything for the time being.

The managerial employee is suspended without pay for the duration of the investigation. It was the mayor who, using a power granted to her by law, took the decision to relieve the general manager of his duties. After sharing the reasons for this action with her elected colleagues, the municipal council decided to endorse this suggestion. The resolution adopted will be sent by bailiff to the principal concerned.

In the meantime, the firm Relais Expert-Conseil of Ville Saint-Laurent has been commissioned to carry out the investigation.According to its website, this firm specializes in investigations into complaints of psychological harassment. The conclusions of the firm's investigations will enable the Ville de Rigaud to determine the appropriate measures to be taken for the future.
