Peter Schiefke Announces Candidacy for Re-election as MP for Vaudreuil-Soulanges
Peter Schiefke, the sitting Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges, officially announced his intention to seek re-election in the upcoming federal election, whenever that may be. After serving the community of Vaudreuil-Soulanges since 2015, Schiefke is eager to continue representing the region and delivering on key priorities for residents.
"It has been an honour and privilege to serve as the Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges," Schiefke said. "By working together as a community, we have achieved a great deal, from building a stronger local economy to enhancing the quality of life for families and ensuring a healthier, more sustainable environment for future generations."
During his time in office, Schiefke has helped advance several key initiatives, including the Canada Child Benefit (CCB) launched in 2016, which supports more than 13,220 families in Vaudreuil-Soulanges, and the Canadian Dental Care Plan launched in 2023, which has already helped more than 6,500 residents of Vaudreuil-Soulanges access affordable dental care.
Looking forward, Schiefke is committed to continuing his advocacy for the National Pharmacare Plan, which will reduce the cost of essential medications for thousands of families, starting with diabetes treatment and female contraception.
Protecting the environment remains a key priority for Schiefke. Having already secured federal funding to protect over 335 hectares of local forest and the planting more than 11,000 trees to combat development-related loss, he remains dedicated to maintaining the natural beauty of Vaudreuil-Soulanges for generations to come.
"We have made important progress on issues that affect us all, but there is still much more to be done," Schiefke added. "From taking unprecedented action to combat climate change to investing in the next generation quality healthcare in Canada, I believe in the power of collaboration and community-driven solutions. My approach to public service has always been rooted in listening to and responding to our community’s needs, and with the support of the citizens of Vaudreuil-Soulanges, I hope to continue that important work on their behalf."
