Fans of pickleball and dek hockey in Vaudreuil-Dorion will be pleased to learn that they can now practice their favorite sports on new courts. On August 12, work began on converting four tennis courts in Saint-Jean-Baptiste Park into 12 permanent pickleball courts.

The work was completed in the last few days. These sports surfaces are located near the school of the same name. Other fields are located near the parking lot and can also be used. However, the current lining is temporary, as the acrylic surface will be applied in spring 2025.

By converting the fields, Vaudreuil-Dorion residents can now practice this sport outdoors with the right equipment, without having to join a club.

“The city has a major development plan for sports, cultural and community infrastructures over the next few years. That said, such a plan must be able to adapt to the changing needs of citizens and organizations. Faced with the growing demand from residents for permanent pickleball facilities, we have rethought the vocation of the land at Saint-Jean-Baptiste Park,” explained Vincent Bastien, Director of the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion's Leisure and Culture Department, as the work got underway.

The work was completed in the last few days. These sports surfaces are located near the school of the same name. Other fields are located near the parking lot and can also be used. However, the current lining is temporary, as the acrylic surface will be applied in spring 2025.

Tennis is currently available at both Louise-Josephte Park and Seigneurie Park. In July, resurfacing work was carried out on both parc de la Seigneurie courts to refresh the surface by caulking the cracks.

The city plans to build six new tennis courts and eight pickleball courts on a site on rue Valois, near Dorion-Gardens park.It is currently awaiting the necessary government authorizations from the Ministère de l'Environnement, de la Lutte contre les changements climatiques, de la Faune et des Parcs.

As for dek hockey, the surfaces are now in place at Parc de la Montée-Cadieux.The new rink will host 3-on-3 games. Sheltered benches for players will be installed next spring.
