In anticipation of the winter period, Hydro-Québec is informing the population of the municipalities of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Beauharnois, Coteau-du-Lac, Des Cèdres and Pointe-des-Cascades that it will begin removing the safety buoys this week, and that the gradual emptying of the Saint-Timothée, Pointe-du-Buisson and Pointe-des-Cascades basins will start on November 3.

If weather conditions are unfavorable, the emptying may be postponed by a few days. Emptying operations will be carried out in compliance with environmental requirements and with due regard for public and worker safety. Hydro-Québec invites the public to call 9-1-1 in the event of a situation requiring the intervention of emergency services.

Hydro-Québec reminds the public that it is very risky to venture onto the water after the safety buoys have been removed, as currents are very strong near dikes and dams.
