Thanksgiving 2024 will be unforgettable for six people who won the sum of $32,000,000 in the Lotto 6/49. The winning ticket was purchased in the municipality of Saint-Clet, located in the heart of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Quebec enjoyed a bumper harvest on the eve of the Thanksgiving weekend. For the second year in a row, a major jackpot was won at this time of year. This time, it was the Lotto 6/49 Golden Ball jackpot, worth $32,000,000, which made many happy.

The winning ticket from the October 9 draw was sold as a group of five shares, worth $6,400,000 each. They are shared among six people, who are now multimillionaires.  

“The Lotto 6/49 has made a lot of people very happy over the past ten months. Quebecers have shared over $115,000,000! They've won the Golden Ball jackpot twice, while the classic jackpot, worth $5,000,000, has been won here 7 times,” says Isabelle Jean, Executive Vice President and Chief Lottery Officer at Loto-Québec.

The winning ticket was purchased at Servi Express Saint-Clet, located at 350 chemin de la Cité-des-Jeunes, in Saint-Clet. This retailer will receive a commission of $320,000, equivalent to 1% of the winnings. 

About the new winners

Benoît Laberge discovered his win at Servi Express Saint-Clet, where the winning Lotto 6/49 shares were purchased. The store regular and the clerk were speechless as they stared at the consumer display screen. Tears of joy flowed as the winner notified his family of his win. A deliveryman by trade, Benoît intends to use his share of the jackpot to bring his retirement and that of his wife forward.

A horse enthusiast, Marie-Josée Roy stopped at Servi Express Saint-Clet to buy her lottery tickets on the way to her riding lessons. The lucky lady discovered that Loto-Québec was looking for winners of the Golden Ball jackpot while drinking her morning coffee. She then went to a store to have her tickets checked by a clerk. The young man said, “Madame, you've won big! She'll certainly have the opportunity to devote more time to her passion for horses!

Louise Lanthier regularly plays the lottery in Formula Group. When she learned that 32 million had been won, she went to a store to check her ticket herself, using the self-service verifier. She was startled when she saw the $6,400,000 amount appear.

Jeanne Bouchard Pharand likes to buy group lottery tickets. When she checked her ticket for the October 9 draw with her tablet, she exclaimed, “I've won something!” even before she knew how much she had won. Her daughter later confirmed that the prize was $6,400,000 using the Lotteries app.Mrs. Bouchard Pharand plans to spoil her loved ones and buy herself a new car.

The couple, Lyne Beaulieu and Alain Dupuis, won the last available share of the Formula Group ticket. When Alain had the ticket checked at a pharmacy, the employee exclaimed with joy at the amount won.The winner quickly called his wife and invited her to join him on site.Lyne and Alain decided to hand in their resignation when Thanksgiving came around.They now plan to buy a property and fly to Bora Bora. 

The winners are all Montérégie residents, with the exception of Marie-Josée Roy, who lives in Montreal.
