Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.    

Soon it will be easier to find your way on the Soulanges bike path

It will soon be easier to find your way around the Soulanges bike path, which runs through several municipalities along the canal of the same name.

Pincourt and Les Cèdres fire stations welcome visitors

As part of Fire Prevention Week, the Pincourt and Les Cèdres fire stations welcomed visitors this weekend.

"60 ans d'expositions" at Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges

The Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges recently launched "60 ans d'expositions" (60 Years of Exhibitions) to celebrate 60 years of existence. July 18, 1965 marked the beginning of a special relationship between the museum and the local and regional community, with the presentation of exhibitions and the implementation of various related activities. This date also marked the beginning of a new vocation for the former Collège Saint-Michel de Vaudreuil.

Coteau-du-Lac to invest over $1 million in the rehabilitation of three streets

Coteau-du-Lac's municipal council has given the go-ahead for the rehabilitation of rue des Abeilles, rue Bourbonnais and rue Poirier. A contract has been awarded to Ali Excavation of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, and work will begin shortly. 

Rigaud's moratorium far from unanimous on council

In force since October 8, the moratorium suspending the issuance of certain permits and certificates within its urban perimeter, due to the saturation of its sewage system, has not met with unanimous approval on council. Indeed, Councillor Charles Meunier is strongly opposed.

Tender launched for Coteau-du-Lac refrigerated skating rink

Coteau-du-Lac's elected officials have authorized the municipal administration to proceed with the call for tenders for the construction of a refrigerated skating rink on municipal territory. Councillor Patrick Delforge tabled a resolution to this effect at the regular meeting held on October 10. 

The City of Coteau-du-Lac will be clearing snow from part of its territory this winter

During the winter of 2024-2025, the Ville de Coteau-du-Lac will be responsible for snow removal on part of its territory. Then, in winter 2025-2026, all local streets will be cleared by the local public works team. 

Dr. Oscar-Gendron Industrial Park: Rigaud Wants to Build Residential Units

The City of Rigaud wants to allow medium to high-density residential construction in its Dr. Oscar-Gendron industrial park. The council adopted a resolution to this effect by a majority vote on October 8. A request will soon be submitted to the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC to amend the revised 3rd Generation Land Use and Development Plan (SADR3).

Giving back by getting involved with an organization close to your heart

With the 27th annual Semaine des maisons des jeunes du Québec (SMDJ) in full swing until October 20, Néomédia wanted to put the spotlight back on the Maison des jeunes des Cèdres. And why? Because, on a daily basis, the organization can count on two dynamic young people who, after having frequented the place during their adolescence, continue to be involved as adults.   

Federal government invests in development of Chicoine Street area

Vaudreuil-Dorion residents will have access to more safe active transportation options thanks to an investment of $2,464,200 from the federal government, to be invested in the Rue Chicoine area. 

Impaired driving: a $2,500 fine for an accused driver

Suroît resident Frédéric Gagnon pleaded guilty this Tuesday, October 15, before Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse, to a charge of impaired driving. 

Nearly 20 artists and more than 25 works on display at Carrefour jeunesse-emploi

More than thirty people, parents and friends gathered this Tuesday at the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CJE-VS) for the opening of the annual Vocation en art exhibition.

The RONA Foundation donates $16,103 to La Passerelle

The RONA Foundation, which oversees the philanthropic activities of RONA Inc. recently donated $16,103 to La Passerelle, also known as Hébergement d'urgence violence conjugale Vaudreuil-Soulanges. The donation was made as part of the Bien chez soi campaign, which took place in RONA banners, including Vaudreuil-Dorion, from September 1 to 7. 

Refuge Soulanges closes for lack of human and financial resources

Lack of financial and human resources, coupled with a shortage of foster families willing to take in cats and dogs on a temporary basis, are all factors that have taken their toll on Refuge Soulanges. The organization, which opened its doors last June, is now working towards dissolution. 

A lottery ticket bought in Saint-Clet makes six multimillionaires

Thanksgiving 2024 will be unforgettable for six people who won the sum of $32,000,000 in the Lotto 6/49. The winning ticket was purchased in the municipality of Saint-Clet, located in the heart of Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

Join us for the 15th edition of Vins & Causerie on November 7

The Fondation du Cégep de Valleyfield will be holding the 15th edition of its Vins & Causerie event on Thursday, November 7, starting at 5 p.m., at Café Chez Rose.

A new work of art takes root in the Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare nature park

Constructed from clay and a piece of maple found on a maple grove in Très-Saint-Rédempteur, the work Cohabitation, by Saint-Lazare artist Annie DeLorimier, is now firmly rooted at the entrance to the Forestiers-de-Saint-Lazare nature park.

The Municipalité des Coteaux confirms that the project to redevelop the Wilson Park shoreline is progressing in line with government standards, with particular emphasis on the ecological restoration of this natural space.

Saint-Zotique donates $1,000 to Soulanges Volunteer Centre

Thanks to a collaboration between the Ville de Saint-Zotique and garage Chrono Performance de Saint-Zotique, the Town of Saint-Zotique recently donated $1,000 to the organization Centre d'Action Bénévole Soulanges.
