At their regular meeting on Thursday, October 10, the elected officials of the Ville de Coteau-du-Lac approved a resolution to request financial assistance from the provincial government. The aim is to carry out a road safety diagnostic to enable the municipal administration to prepare an action plan.

“At the last meeting, we adopted a resolution to ask the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable (MTQMD) to be part of a pilot project it was planning to deploy in Quebec. Unfortunately, we received a negative response, and learned that in order to do so, a road safety diagnosis and action plan were required. So this is a step we need to take to enable us to take part in the future. It will be a useful document, if only to enable us to set priorities on the territory. What are the best ways to reduce speed in certain areas? A speed bump? A stop sign? Speed reduction is what the action plan will enable us to determine,” explained Mayor Andrée Brosseau at the public meeting held in front of some twenty citizens.

Town councillor Christine Arsenault called for a vote on the resolution. Alain Laprade of district 1 spoke in favor of the request, as did district 3 representative André Legros and Isabelle Lemay of district 5. District 6 Councillor Patrick Delgorge also spoke in favor of the request.

“I've been asking for a process like this since I took office, so I'm obviously in favor of this resolution,” said Arsenault.
