Starting next spring, Coteau-du-Lac's parc Henri-Paul Desforges will be home to a play module for young children aged 18 months to 5 years, a free-standing play structure and rotating equipment.

The elected officials accepted the bid from Équipements récréatifs Jambette of Lévis, in the amount of $49,841.33, taxes included. The expense was not included in the Town's three-year capital expenditure plan and will be paid for out of the parks and playgrounds fund.

District 6 Councillor Patrick Delforge requested a vote on this resolution.

District 1 representative Alain Laprade was the first to speak. “I'm against this resolution, because I believe we should follow the City's master plan for parks. There are some fifteen parks on municipal territory, and I think we've invested enough in parc Henri-Paul Desforges in recent years.

For his part, André Legros of district 3, said he was in favor. “Coteau-du-Lac has many families and young children on its territory. We need a play module like this. I understand that the cost may come as a surprise, but that's the price we have to pay.”

District 4 Councillor Isabelle Lemay also accepted the resolution. District 5 councillor Christine Arsenault concurred. “I was the one who asked for the call for tenders after being approached by parents. I validated with the city's recreation department to find out where we are in the deployment of the parks master plan. I was told that all the city's parks have undergone rejuvenation and that we are now at the stage of improving and enhancing them. It's an important park in the region, and many children go there every year with their school, family or sports association. What's more, the module costs the citizens of Coteau-du-Lac nothing, because it's financed from the parks and playgrounds fund,” she concluded.

For his part, Patrick Delforge, from District 6, mentioned that he was in favor of the resolution.
