The Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers de la Montérégie (CETAM) will be moving its operations from Vaudreuil-Dorion to a brand-new station in Saint-Lazare.

The new station will be built at the intersection of Route Cité-des-Jeunes and Chemin Saint-Louis. The total investment amounts to just over $6 million, including construction and equipment costs.

“The choice of this location, close to the future hospital, was made to optimize emergency service coverage throughout the region. This was based on detailed studies of response times and service accessibility. All operations currently based in Vaudreuil-Dorion will be transferred to this new fire station, which will not only be more modern, but also feature sustainable initiatives,” confirms Renaud Pilon, media relations officer for CÉTAM.

The new facility will house nine ambulances, and the deployment plan will be adjusted accordingly to enable the cooperative to meet its response time targets for optimal coverage of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges territory.

“Thanks to its proximity to the new hospital, this is excellent news for Saint-Lazare, as it will improve access to emergency services for our residents,” said Saint-Lazare mayor Geneviève Lachance on her social networks.

“Although there is no direct funding from the town at this stage, the municipality of Saint-Lazare and the MRC have been very facilitative partners throughout this project. The collaboration has been very positive,” continues Mr. Pilon.

The new permanent CÉTAM fire station in Saint-Lazare will be in operation by July 2025. In the meantime, a partnership with the Saint-Lazare fire department will enable paramedics to use the fire station as a waiting point between interventions.
