Fire Prevention Week
A life-saving gesture. Have a working smoke alarm!
As part of Fire Prevention Week, which runs from October 6 to 12, the Comité régional de prévention des incendies du Suroît (C.R.P.I.S.) is launching an awareness campaign to remind citizens of the importance of having a working smoke alarm in their home.
Several posters with hard-hitting messages will be put up in full view of the public. They will read: “A life-saving gesture. Have a working smoke alarm” and ”Make your choice. With / Without smoke alarms”.
This is the third and final year that the campaign will be posted on city and municipal streets, says the committee.
Campaign schedule
Each year, all cities and municipalities have the opportunity to install roadside signs, regular posters and/or banners on their streets, businesses and municipal buildings. Posting begins about a week in advance. Not all cities and municipalities have authorized billposting.
However, some towns keep their posters and banners up all year round near their fire stations. The campaign image is also added to fire department members' electronic signatures for the occasion.
About the committee
The committee has 38 members, representing 18 fire departments or Régie incendie across three Montérégie MRCs: Vaudreuil-Soulanges, Beauharnois-Salaberry and Roussillon. More than 28 towns and municipalities are covered by these fire departments.
