Cégep de Valleyfield: Psychosocial support for employees and students
Following the events that took place this Friday morning on its main campus, the Cégep de Valleyfield has announced the setting up of a special emergency hotline. The hotline will be staffed by the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), while psychosocial support will also be available to students.
For the student community, support can be obtained by writing to the following e-mail address: [email protected].
Employees can contact the special hotline set up by the Employee Assistance Program. Contact details will be available shortly.
In progress since 6:15 a.m.
Early this morning, at around 6:15 a.m., a police intervention took place at the college. A security perimeter was set up on rue Champlain, rue Saint-Thomas, rue Salaberry Ouest and chemin Larocque.
According to information transmitted by police teams to management, an altercation occurred between two people, one of whom was a school employee. Fortunately, few people were inside the establishment at the time of the incident. They received the necessary care and services.
We can confirm that the main campus will remain closed for the entire day, including the evening. Classes and activities are suspended. As for Continuing Education, some online courses will continue. The teachers concerned have been notified. The situation is currently under control.
Further information will follow regarding the reopening of the Cégep and the resumption of activities. The Vaudreuil-Dorion and Saint-Constant study centers remain open and activities are continuing normally.
For ticket holders to the show by comedian Christine Morency, this Friday evening, October 4, here is the latest information published by the venue at the time of writing:
In light of this morning's events at the Cégep de Valleyfield, we are keeping a close eye on developments. For the time being, all of our activities ARE STANDING, but we will notify affected customers if we need to make any changes to our programming. We'll know more later in the day. Our hearts go out to the Cégep staff who are dealing with this situation.
