Crimes of a sexual nature
New charges filed against Yan Lecompte
On October 2, investigators from the Sûreté du Québec Beauharnois-Salaberry RCM station arrested a 48-year-old Salaberry-de-Valleyfield man in connection with sexual offences against minor victims.
Yan Lecompte appeared at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse on October 2. He faces charges of sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching, luring, making sexually explicit material available to a minor, production and possession of child pornography, exhibitionism, voyeurism and criminal harassment.
The events allegedly took place between 2010 and 2023, and the investigation suggests that the suspect may have victimized others
Since several victims have been identified, the Serial Crime Investigation Management Structure (GECS), coordinated by the Sûreté du Québec, has been deployed. This is a unified command structure within which Quebec police forces work in partnership to rapidly identify and arrest predatory crimes.
This provincial coordination allows police resources to be pooled, and is designed to better protect victims.
The Sûreté du Québec would also like to remind the public that they can submit confidential information at any time to the Sûreté du Québec's Centrale de l'information criminelle at 1 800 659-4264.
