Run for three generations by the DeSerre family, the DeSerre chain of art supplies stores was purchased on Tuesday by Groupe Renaud Bray.

For some time, Marc DeSerres had been looking for a buyer to ensure a sustainable future for his company. ” The time has come for me to hand over the reins, and I do so with complete confidence,” said Marc DeSerres. ”I have no doubt that the Renaud-Bray teams, with the help of our employees, suppliers and partners, will be able to make the freedom to create last.”

The transaction, the amount of which was not disclosed, involves the 28 outlets established in Quebec, Ontario, Nova Scotia and British Columbia, the company's website (deserres.ca), Cadres Verbec, a company specializing in framing supplies and services, and Lamarche Importation, a distributor of stationery products.

We salute the hard work of Marc DeSerres, a passionate ambassador of the arts who has reinvented his business over the years,” says Renaud-Bray president Blaise Renaud.

“We are delighted to be able to integrate DeSerres into our group. Our companies have a lot in common: they are both Quebec-based, multi-generational and focused on the world of culture. DeSerres will continue to make Quebec's creativity shine,” concludes Blaise Renaud.

In recent years, Groupe Renaud-Bray has acquired the Archambault music store (2015), the Prologue and Pierre Belvédère distributors (2017) and the Griffon toy banner in 2020.
