Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.  

Rue Saint-Jean-Baptiste Est: Rigaud calls for citizen participation

Anyone who lives or travels in Rigaud on a daily basis knows how chaotic the situation can be in the village and on the streets around Saint-Jean-Baptiste Est during rush hour. Ville de Rigaud is asking for citizens' cooperation in finding solutions to this recurring problem. 

Ticks don't disappear with the arrival of autumn

Just because autumn is slowly settling over the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region doesn't mean that ticks are no longer a danger. They don't disappear with the cooler weather. On the contrary, they remain active until the first frosts,” reminds the Direction de santé publique de la Montérégie. 

Vaudreuil-Dorion: the Phantom Captain moors at Harwood Nature Park

For Halloween, the Ville de Vaudreuil-Dorion is once again offering a trail through parc- nature Harwood (3900, route Harwood). From October 5 to November 3, between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m., the public is invited to take part in challenges and solve riddles under the theme of Captain Ghost.

The Municipality of Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac is preparing to buy a portion of a woodland to ensure its conservation. A draft borrowing by-law will be tabled at the next council meeting, scheduled for October 2nd.

Rigaud: an ambulance permanently parked at the fire station

According to a report produced by the external firm Leroux Beaudry Picard et Associés of Laval, Ville de Saint-Zotique's property value for the year 2025 is set at $1.8 billion. This represents an increase of $54 million over the previous year. ​​​​​​

Mères au Front: a march to express fed-upness

On Friday, September 27, from noon to 1:30pm, the Mères au Front de Vaudreuil-Soulanges citizens' group took over Place des Tisserands, in Salaberry-de-Valleyfield. Their objective? To denounce bad political decisions on the environment, five years after the Great Climate March, in which young environmentalist Greta Thunberg took part in 2019. 

Take a behind-the-scenes look at the processing of recyclable materials this Saturday

This Saturday, October 5, Vaudreuil-Soulanges residents interested in discovering the path taken by their recyclable materials will be able to do so. The Tricentris sorting center serving the region is located in Lachute in the MRC d'Argenteuil. It will open its doors from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. 

Pionniers de Soulanges: two big wins for the U14 and U18 teams

The Soulanges High School U14 and U18 Pioneers are off to a flying start. The two sports teams scored big wins in their last games, 7-0 and 11-3 respectively. 

International recruitment: there's still work to be do

Île-Perrot kicks off construction of its new fire station

Pierre Séguin, mayor of L'Île-Perrot, accompanied by Andrée Laforest, Minister of Municipal Affairs, officially launched construction of the new fire station on Thursday.

Flood zones: “Let municipalities take responsibility” - Guy Pilon

The Adrienne Demontigny-Clément library officially opens its doors

Last Friday evening, the inauguration of the new Adrienne Demontigny-Clément Library in Pointe-des-Cascades was an occasion for joy and celebration. The mayor, councillors, general manager, family, artists, librarian, volunteers and many residents gathered to witness the official cutting of the red ribbon at 85 chemin du Fleuve in Pointe-des-Cascades. The library now replaces the old Pointe-des-Cascades church, and it's a beautiful one.

New rental building takes shape in Vaudreuil-Dorion

Over the coming months, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion will be welcoming new residents to the CARA real estate project, currently under construction on rue Émile-Bouchard. The first tenants will move into the new 12-storey building, owned and managed by Plan A, in March 2025.

A new Mont Rigaud lift in operation this winter

Following a major investment of nearly $2.5 million, Mont Rigaud will be able to double its lift capacity from winter 2024-2025. This will mean an increase from 2,400 people per hour to 4,800 skiers per hour as of next December. The final stages of this major project are underway at the ski resort, which welcomes up to 100,000 skiers a year.
