Following the example of the Pincourt/Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot fire department, an ambulance from the Coopérative des techniciens ambulanciers de la Montérégie (CETAM) will be permanently stationed at the Rigaud fire station, starting this Tuesday, October 1.

On Tuesday, September 10, the municipal council authorized the signing of an agreement with CETAM. The aim of the agreement is to provide the paramedics who serve this territory with space inside the Rigaud fire station when they are on standby.

This initiative enhances the comfort of CETAM technicians, who can share living spaces with firefighters, including washrooms and the kitchen, and enables them to benefit from controlled temperatures, both in hot and cold weather.

By parking the ambulances indoors, the engines can be turned off, extending the life of the vehicles and reducing their environmental footprint. Prior to the signing of this agreement, ambulances were parked at the rest stop.

Rigaud is the 4th waiting point until the CETAM ambulance station is built in Saint-Lazare in 2025. Thereafter, Rigaud will become the 3rd waiting point.

This agreement enables the teams to exchange, enhance their knowledge and share resources, including Spéro, the TOGO dog for intervention in difficult situations, as well as saving on the purchase of medical equipment.
