The 28th Journées de la culture will be held across Quebec and in Vaudreuil-Soulanges on September 27, 28 and 29. Organized by Culture pour tous, these days are packed with interesting, free activities presented by many of the region's municipalities. Here are the activities taking place in Vaudreuil-Soulanges and included in the Journées de la culture 2024 calendar.

Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot

Parc historique de la Pointe-du-Moulin 

On Sunday, September 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Pointe-du-Moulin team invites you to celebrate the Journées de la culture!

On the program: a re-enactment of the fort's inhabitants and the presence of First Nations members.

And don't miss a performance by the Île Perrot theater in the reception hall.

Take advantage of the opportunity to visit the windmill and miller's house, built in the 18th century, and discover the two multimedia exhibits at the interpretation center, on a self-guided tour!

Admission to the site is free for the day!

Marie-Uguay Library

- Vernissage and intuitive writing workshop with Roxanne Campeau on September 27, from 5 to 7 p.m.

- Cellist Stéphane Tétreault and pianist Olivier Hébert-Bouchard offer a musical retrospective on the life of Claude Debussy; Claude Debussy : images oubliées will be presented as part of the Concerts au salon series on September 29 from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.

Coteau-du-Lac

Discover the Société d'histoire et de généalogie de Coteau-du-Lac at 4A, rue Principale (first floor) - September 28, from 2 to 5 pm. The society offers you an exciting afternoon.

On the program:

- Visit the Maison de l'Histoire et de la Généalogie

- Discover the Coteau-du-Lac Heritage Trail

- Explore the exhibition on Laurence Wilson and the 100th anniversary of Wilson Pavilion and Park

- Take advantage of a free genealogy research service

Learn more about the Cercle de Fermières Des-Phares in the basement of 4A, rue Principale on September 28 from 2 to 5 p.m.

On the program:

- Visit our new loom facilities
- Participate in the creation of a collective work on the loom

Embark on a poetic cruise at 4B, rue Principale on September 28 from 2:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Culture en éveil, in partnership with Ville de Coteau-du-Lac, invites you to a poetic cruise during the Journées de la Culture at the Galerie d'art in Pavillon Wilson!

La Croisière des Mots: Set sail on a poetic voyage on the theme of ships. Guest poets will share their creations inspired by the ocean and travel, for a unique maritime experience.

Program:

- Spontaneous writing workshop
- Ship exhibition
- Poetic performance
- Open mic and closing ceremony

To enhance the cruise, a snack with beverages and hors d'oeuvres will be served, creating a convivial moment conducive to exchanges. No registration is required, and admission is free.

Vaudreuil-Dorion

Édifice de la Croisée

On September 27, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to celebrate Les Journées de la culture and the start of the Creative Oasis fall season, Annick Gauvreau will be offering an activity in tribute to her father, painter and author Pierre Gauvreau.

Small boats and waves, simple to make but leaving plenty of room for creativity, will come to life. The images of paintings and the writing in catalogs will evoke the host and his father, the painter who signed Le Refus global and wrote Le Temps d'une Paix. The arts of paper cutting and folding will be used. L'Oasis is located at 1255, rue Émile Bouchard.

At the same location, Michel Dufour, of the Traitdartiste group, will be on hand on Saturday, September 28, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., to introduce the public to watercolour with an experimental workshop.

Maison Félix-Leclerc

A folk music show with Ancolie will be presented at Maison Félix-Leclerc on Friday, September 27, from 7:30 to 9 pm. Admission is free. A post-show discussion is planned.

On September 28, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., as part of the Journées de la culture, a surprise guest will take part in the salon and readings related to Félix.

On Sunday, September 29, from 11 a.m. to noon, the Centre Multisports André-Chagnon will host the children's play Coup de théâtre | À fleur de ville with Mr. Gazon. It's a joyful and playful circo-clown theatrical show.

Pincourt

On September 28, at the Pincourt Public Library, celebrate the community's rich culture at the Fête de la Culture in Pincourt! 

11 a.m. to 3 p.m. - Collective work: take part in the creation of an imitation watercolour fresco with artist Erin Wainwright. 

There'll also be inflatable games, balloon sculpting for kids, and music to keep young and old dancing and singing along. Free snacks will be served,

Bring your picnic and relax outdoors in a friendly atmosphere.

From 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., children aged 9 to 13 are invited to take part in the Traits d'Humour workshop led by cartoonist Marc Beaudet. 

What participants will discover:

- Introduction to Caricature 

- Character creation

- Drawing techniques

This workshop is an exceptional opportunity for young artists to immerse themselves in the world of caricature and comics under the expert eye of Marc Beaudet. 

From 12:30 to 1:15 pm, discover Nathalie Desjardins, a renowned public entertainer since 1986, and her fascinating world through her lecture Mon métier d'amuseur public et les voyages

From 1:15 to 2 p.m. and 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. join Stacey Monk for an enchanting storytime session for children aged 4 to 8. Two storytelling sessions, one in French and following one in English, followed by fun crafts, await your little ones.

Saint-Zotique

On September 29, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Saint-Zotique library, it's Journée de la Culture. Discover and experience culture from every angle: the arts, cinema, music, history and much more. On the program: experimental workshops, demonstrations, shows and cultural leisure activities. The library is located at 30, avenue des Maîtres in Saint-Zotique.

Pointe-des-Cascades

On September 27 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the new Adrienne DeMontigny-Clément Library, Le monde magique et merveilleux des livres will be presented.

Program: 

- Inauguration of the new library space 

- Unveiling of a collective work of art combining floral beauty and literary magic, in which citizens and subscribers collaborated over the summer.

- Guided tour of the former church, now the library.

- Literary event (reading).

Hudson

On September 28 at 3 p.m., the public is invited to the Hudson Village Theatre to hear a concert featuring the Hudson Community Choir and the Hudson Young Voices. The concert will be followed by an improv session by the Hudson Players Club.

This event is free and open to all! However, in honor of the village's community spirit, boxes will be set up at the entrance to receive your food donations for Le Pont/Bridging.

Places are limited, first come, first served.
