“Cultive ton web 3.0”
CJE Vaudreuil-Soulanges unveils new CAB Soulanges website
On Thursday, September 19, Carrefour jeunesse-emploi (CJE) Vaudreuil-Soulanges unveiled the new website of the Centre d'action bénévole Soulanges, during a 5@7 organized on its premises. The website was entirely created by participants in the Cultive ton web 3.0 project.
This 10-week project, which began last April, enabled 11 young people aged between 18 and 35 to develop their digital skills. They were able to assimilate new digital notions through concrete tasks, ranging from customer meetings, arborescence, text writing and graphic design, right through to putting the site online.
Accompanied by Philippe Corriveau from Tofubox, supported by Stéphanie Gagnon, project manager/youth advisor at Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Vaudreuil-Soulanges. At the end of this journey, they will have developed new skills and interests, and will have additional experience to add to their resumes.
In addition to redesigning the website, the young people also reworked the CAB Soulanges brand image by updating the organization's logo.
“Cultivate ton web is a lot of work, but it's also a way for young people to meet each other, forge links and learn to work on their professional skills, surpass themselves and get involved in their community. Their hard work and passion have breathed new life into Cab Soulanges' online presence,” says Stéphanie Gagnon, Project Manager at CJE Vaudreuil-Soulanges.
“Graphic design and the website are excuses to work in collaborative mode, to work with technological tools and try to do something with lots of stuff. It's always about finding solutions. Young people have acquired a lot of skills that will stay with them for the rest of their lives, whatever field they choose. I'd like to thank the young people who took part in this new edition of the program. The final result reflects their efforts in terms of thinking and responding to customer needs,” said Philippe Corriveau.
“I was really happy to know that a Soulanges organization had been selected for the project, but even happier to know that it was us, especially as it was really in line with our vision of wanting to change the whole image of the Centre d'action bénévole, that it's not just the underprivileged who can come and buy at the thrift shop, buy snacks or do volunteer work. We really wanted to make it accessible to everyone. The idea of the new logo, the new site, was part of our approach to improving the quality of life of volunteers, citizens and employees. We're really happy with the result. It's been a truly enriching experience,” adds Chantal Geneau, General Manager of CAB Soulanges.
Self-discovery
In all, eleven young people made up the Cultive ton Web 2024 cohort. Many of them were present at the unveiling of the new CAB Soulanges website. Among them, two agreed to talk about their experience.
“Signing up for the Cultive ton Web program was a way for me to explore my career. I was interested in the field, but didn't really know much about it. So I learned a lot. Among other things, I learned how to add my personal touch while respecting the customer's requirements, and that's something I really value. I really enjoyed my experience,” confided Jasmine.
For his part, Alex, a graphic design graduate, said he was happy to have been able to share his experience, while learning how to put together a project from A to Z.
“I'd never had the experience of having a blank page, meeting a customer, analyzing their needs and doing it in a more active way. What I found most fun about the whole process was doing it with a team, sharing my experience with them and helping them through the process. I also liked the fact that, as a team, we had a lot of ideas, and that together we were able to blend them all together to create a product that I'm proud of.“
The Cultive ton web project will be renewed for a fourth edition. The call for tenders will be launched in spring 2025.
