A 5-year-old child was found lifeless last night in a residence on chemin du Fleuve in Coteau-du-Lac.

Around 3 a.m. this morning, emergency services were called to the residence, where the young boy was pronounced dead. At this time, all hypotheses are being considered by the authorities.

“Two people were on the scene when police arrived. They have been taken to hospital and will be seen by police when their condition allows,” says Sûreté du Québec spokeswoman Marythé Bolduc.

A security perimeter has been set up around the residence. No arrests have been reported at this time, but all persons who have been in contact with the child in the last 24 hours will be interviewed, confirms the spokeswoman.

Crimes against the person investigators from the Sûreté du Québec, assisted by forensic identification technicians, are scheduled to visit the scene in the morning to analyze the scene and gather evidence.

An autopsy will be performed on the boy's body to determine the cause of death.
