Uniag Coopérative attracts hundreds of agricultural producers to Suroît

The Uniag Coop plots, held over four separate days across Quebec and Ontario, once again proved their relevance, attracting over 300 agricultural producers. Two of these events were held in the Suroît region, in Sainte-Martine on September 6 and Saint-Polycarpe on September 13. 

These events not only offered practical solutions to current field crop challenges, but also created a platform for exchange between experts and producers.

High-quality content appreciated by participants

In St-Isidore, Ontario, agronomist Gilles Quesnel's lecture on integrated pest management captivated the audience with his innovative crop protection solutions. The methods presented by Mr. Quesnel opened our eyes to more effective and sustainable practices for controlling the region's insect pests.

Meanwhile, in Quebec, Stéphanie Mathieu from MAPAQ led a series of conferences on managing pesticide resistance, a crucial issue for growers. Her presentations in Sainte-Martine, Saint-Valentin and Saint-Polycarpe attracted a great deal of interest. Ms Mathieu's advice helped growers rethink the use of pesticides in their farming practices, while protecting the environment and the health of my soils. 

A commitment to local purchasing and conviviality

In a warm atmosphere, participants enjoyed food prepared by Les Grillades à Poudrette, as well as local craft beers, supplied by two brewery members of the Cooperative: Domaine Berthiaume and Brasserie Schoune. This initiative highlighted the importance of encouraging local purchasing, a pillar of Uniag Cooperative's social commitment.
