Upcoming culvert replacement and stream clean-up in Coteau-du-Lac
At its regular meeting on Tuesday, September 10, the Coteau-du-Lac municipal council approved a number of resolutions, including the replacement of two existing culverts on its territory.
“The culverts collapsed during the torrential rains of Friday August 9,” explained Mayor Andrée Brosseau.
As a result, the elected officials awarded the contract to replace the culverts on chemin de la Rivière Rouge and chemin de la Rivière Delisle-Sud to S. Besner. Besner in the amount of $48,289.50, taxes included.
“This work was not included in the 2024-2025 and 2026 Three-Year Capital Plan, but will be reimbursed in part by the provincial government,” she said.
Stream clean-ups also on the agenda
In a similar vein, at the same meeting, elected officials also approved a resolution asking the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges to clean up a portion of the Trait-Carré St-Emmanuel Est watercourse.
“It's high time the clean-up was done. The problem has been going on for 10 years. The watercourse is obstructed and is harming farmers' land upstream. The water flow is no longer adequate,” she says.
“I would even add that the clean-up must be done as a matter of urgency, Ms. Brosseau,” added Councillor Patrick Delforge, who seconded the resolution.
Finally, at the same meeting, the Board also approved the launch of a professional call for tenders for the maintenance of the Avila-Legault stream ditch.
This ditch runs along the eastern side of Chemin Saint-Emmanuel. “It is currently blocked and its maintenance must be carried out under the supervision of the Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable and the Ministère de l'Environnement. We want to be able to launch the tendering process in order to award the contract at a future meeting”, mentioned the mayor.
