Luis-David Roy-De-Rodriguez to return to court in December
This Wednesday, September 11, the case of Luis-David De-Rodriguez Roy, a resident of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, returned to the Court of Quebec before Judge Mylène Grégoire. The latter was back at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse to answer charges relating to conjugal assault, harassing communications and failure to comply with a court order.
“Me Laplante and I had discussions on Friday, September 6, and we would like to possibly settle these cases at a later date. Mr. Laplante has taken therapeutic steps and we would like to allow him to work through them, which is why we are asking you to postpone the case until later this fall,” explained Claudia Doyle, representing the defence and a colleague of prosecutor Marc Labelle.
The accused, aged in his thirties, will therefore have to return to the Valleyfield courthouse on Wednesday, December 11 for the continuation of his case.
“Do you know what's expected of you?”, Judge Grégoire asked the accused. “Yes,” he replied briefly.
Mr. De Rodriguez Roy has a criminal record related to narcotics. In June 2023, the Sûreté du Québec confirmed the arrest of 19 individuals suspected of involvement in a vast drug trafficking network.
One of these people was the 31-year-old accused, who was arrested while on Vaudreuil-sur-le-Lac territory.
As a result of this police operation, the accused, who was already facing assault charges, had drug trafficking charges added to his judicial record. The accused, represented by Me.Marc Labelle, has a history dating back to February 2016, when he was in trouble with the law for his involvement in another narcotics case.
