Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days. 

Rosalie Girouard's mission to promote women's soccer

Although she barely knew how to walk and run, Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot resident Rosalie Girouard was able to blossom and take her place on a soccer field. But Rosalie's passion for soccer doesn't stop there.

Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot resident joins CF Montreal Academy

Young Gabriel Grosu, a resident of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, has been selected to join the U15 Academy team of the CF Montreal soccer club. He will take part in the 2024-2025 season in the MLS NEXT championship. He will proudly wear number 61 and play in midfield.

Rigaud's Metro will become a Super C by the end of 2024

Good news for Rigaud residents: the Métro grocery store at 466 Chemin de la Grande-Ligne will become a Super C banner by the end of the year. The news was confirmed by the food company to Néomédia. 

Mosaic artist Roxane Campeau in residence at the Marie-Uguay Library

The Town of Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot welcomes mosaic artist Roxane Campeau for the fourth edition of Artist in Residence at the Marie-Uguay Library.

6 to 9 years: improve your reading skills with the dog Sandale and a zootherapist

The Marie-Uguay library in Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot invites young readers aged 6 to 9 to a reading activity with zootherapist Vanessa Grimard and her dog Sandale. Entitled Samedi de lire... avec Sandale, the activity will take place on September 21 at 10:30 a.m. at the library.

See artist Lange's exhibition at CACVS

The Conseil des arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges (CACVS) is pleased to present the exhibition Les évasions imaginaires by Lazaroise artist Lange. The exhibition is accessible during the MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges opening hours: Monday to Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The exhibition will run until next February.

26 persons and organizations honored by Peter Schiefke

On Sunday, September 8, Peter Schiefke, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil-Soulanges, held his annual ceremony at the Auberge des Gallants to honor the 26 individuals and organizations in Vaudreuil-Soulanges who received the 2024 Community Service Award.

Fourth place for Rosalie Lalonde at the Paralympic Games

Saint-Clet resident Rosalie Lalonde's experience at the Paralympic Games came to an end on Sunday, September 8, with a heartbreaking defeat that left the Canadian team at the foot of the podium, in 4th place. The team lost to China in the bronze medal race. 

Camping Koa: a survey to take the pulse of citizens on the subject

Following the August 28 public consultation held at Coteau-du-Lac's Pavillon Wilson, many citizens are concerned about the residential project that could be developed on the site of the former Camping Koa. At the public meeting of the municipal council on September 10, a citizen revealed the results of a survey on the subject.

The City of Pincourt presents its 2023 financial report

Based on the financial report as at December 31, 2023, the Town of Pincourt ended the year with an operating surplus for tax purposes of $4,321,135. According to the report prepared by BCGO S.E.N.C.R.L., the consolidated financial statements present fairly the financial position of the Town of Pincourt as at December 31, 2023, as well as the results of its operations for the year then ended.  

Luis-David Roy-De-Rodriguez to return to court in December

This Wednesday, September 11, the case of Luis-David De-Rodriguez Roy, a resident of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region, returned to the Court of Quebec before Judge Mylène Grégoire. The latter was back at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse to answer charges relating to conjugal assault, harassing communications and failure to comply with a court order. 

90-day prison sentence to be served intermittently for repeat offender

An employee of a Montreal car dealership was found guilty of driving a vehicle while impaired by drugs on Wednesday, September 11 at the Valleyfield courthouse. The accused received a 90-day prison sentence, to be served intermittently starting Sunday, September 15. 

Storm Debby: The Town of Pincourt meets with flood victims

Systematic visits to homes and dwellings affected by Storm Debby in Pincourt continue weekdays, Tuesday through Thursday, from 8:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. The purpose of these visits is to offer comfort and emotional support to disaster victims, and to identify situations requiring psychosocial support or specific intervention. It is important to note that these visits do not represent inspections, but rather an opportunity for the workers to meet and inform the victims.

Marie-Claude Nichols joins citizens in calling for CAQ action

On Thursday, September 12, Marie-Claude Nichols, MNA for Vaudreuil, welcomed committed citizens from her riding to the National Assembly to present a petition with 16,222 signatures demanding that the Quebec government proceed, without further delay, with the completion of Highway 20 in the Vaudreuil-Soulanges region.

Death of Mathieu Miljours, former General Manager of the CCIVS

Less than a month after stepping down as General Manager of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mathieu Miljours tragically lost his life in a motorcycle accident around midnight on Thursday, September 12. The accident occurred on Chemin du Fleuve, in Les Cèdres, according to information confirmed by the Sûreté du Québec. 

End of measures in place at the Vaudreuil-Soulanges ecocenter network

The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges has announced the end of the temporary measures put in place at the ecocenter network following the torrential rain of August 9. As of September 16, the usual conditions will be restored, including a return to the regular schedule and a maximum of 5 m3 accepted per visit. Please note that each citizen can dispose of up to 12 m3 of material per year, free of charge.

Since the confirmation of the tragic death of the former General Manager of the Vaudreuil-Soulanges Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCVIS), Mathieu Miljours, testimonials from the business community have been unanimous: he was a true ambassador for Vaudreuil-Soulanges. 

A 26th edition focused on nature, arts and culture
