Store to close in mid-October for conversion work
Rigaud's Metro will become a Super C by the end of 2024
Good news for Rigaud residents: the Métro grocery store at 466 Chemin de la Grande-Ligne will become a Super C banner by the end of the year. The news was confirmed by the food company to Néomédia.
Head of communications Geneviève Grégoire confirmed the upcoming conversion. The Metro is scheduled to close in mid-October, with the company aiming to reopen before the holiday season under its new colors.
According to the information provided, an investment of around $3.5 million will be required to turn the supermarket into Super C. During the work, the grocery store will be completely closed.
Will employees be relocated to other branches? “As soon as the store closes, employees have a choice: they can remain employed at the Super C location when it opens, or find a job at another Metro. If the latter is the case, we'll help them find a job through our network,” says Ms. Grégoire.
At the same time, she points out that when the store reopens, Super C will need more employees to complete its team. In all, some twenty additional hires will be made to ensure that the store is well equipped to serve its customers.
Why transform Metro into Super C? “As is often the case when we convert stores, Rigaud's Metro would have required too much investment to bring itself up to date and respond well to customer needs. We think the population will be better served with a discount store,” she adds.
Finally, should we be concerned that the proximity of Vaudreuil's Super C will be detrimental to Rigaud's?” No, when we open new stores, whatever the banner, and whether it's a conversion from one banner to another or a brand new store, it's because our market studies show us that there's room and that the arrival of the new store will fill a gap and meet a need for the community,” she concludes on a positive note.
