On Tuesday, November 5, thousands of U.S. citizens will be called to the polls to indirectly elect their country's president and vice-president. This electoral race, which will have an impact right here at home due to the proximity of our borders with our neighbors to the south, inspired Neomedia's poll question of the week.

How do American elections work? In this 60th election, Americans will elect 538 members of the U.S. Electoral College, also known as the Great Electors. The electors in turn determine the presidents and vice-presidents.

In the United States, the role of president can only be held for two consecutive or non-consecutive terms. The candidates in the race, incumbent Democrat Joe Biden and Republican Donald J. Trump, are both eligible for this second four-year term.

Earlier this year, when the race was on between the two men, Joe Biden withdrew on July 21 in favor of his vice-president, Kamala Harris, due to criticism of his advanced age (81). Harris chose Tim Walz as her running mate. If elected, Kamala Harris will become the first woman and the first black woman to become President of the United States since the country was founded.

With three months to go before the US elections, we ask you this question: Will you be following the US elections?

The answer choices were as follows:

- Yes, because it will have an impact on us too: 68.2%;

- Yes, because it could be historic: 9.1%;

- Yes, because I'm interested in politics: 13.6%;

- I prefer not to think about it: 9.1%;

- No, I have no interest in politics in general: 0%;

- Which elections: 0%.

And you, will you be in front of your TV set during the American election campaign? To take the survey, click here.
