Music, literature and storytelling from September 13
Maison Félix-Leclerc: autumn artistic activities begin
Activities at the Vaudreuil-Dorion Maison Félix-Leclerc will resume on September 13. Guides will be on hand to welcome visitors on Fridays, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., and on Saturdays, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evenings in the salon will also be back, with artists from the worlds of music, literature and storytelling performing every Friday at 7:30 p.m. until the end of November.
Music
On September 27, the public will have the chance to hear the warm instruments, comforting words and vocal harmonies of folk duo Ancolie, formed by Natalie Byrns and Anik Bérubé.
On October 4, Roy Davis will take over the Félix salon to present Désastres, his show that transports us along the banks of the St. Lawrence through powerful folk rhythms. With Chacun pour soi, up-and-coming singer-songwriter Mic Bourgouin invites us to discover the essence of his retro-pop-contemporary music on October 18.
Finally, Dominic Dagenais concludes the musical season on November 1 with his show La misère des riches. This sincere, straightforward country-folk artist evokes references such as Beau Dommage and Tire le Coyote.
Tales
Three storytellers take turns visiting the inspiring house on chemin de l'Anse. On September 20, Renée Robitaille will guide her audience through the fabulous encounters, sorrows, hopes and betrayals of her characters in Contes d'amour, histoires de diables.
On October 25, Eveline Ménard's Poiluse et autres contes traditionnels recounts the marvels of the imaginary, where larger-than-life characters are ready to overcome all hardships and experience all kinds of adventures.
Ariane Labonté will be on hand on November 15 to present Récit conte-en-forain de l'Amer'cirque. Accompanied by astonishing “puppets” and carried by Luzio Altobelli's rich, nuanced accordion, she crafts a savory social satire about our indomitable consumerism.
Patrick Richard, for his part, will deliver a moving testimonial on November 29. In La voix du père, la voie du fils, he recounts the story of a son's letter to his father, outlining a path to redemption and delving into the adolescent brain of a person able to play down his life with wacky humor. Presented in the form of a video-supported podcast, the performance alternates between storytelling, music and numerous voice-overs.
Literature
Once again this year, the Cabaret littéraire, hosted by Stéphan Daigle, will offer three performance evenings, giving local authors and artists of the French language a platform to showcase their creations to the public. This season's guests: author and historian Lise Chartier and poet Gabriel Lalonde on September 13, poet Marco Geoffroy and author and musician Michel Morissette on October 11, and multidisciplinary artist Suzanne Saint-Hilaire and author Danielle Shelton on November 8.
Nane Couzier will be present as a reader at all three meetings. On September 28, at 2 p.m., Les Amis de Félix à Vaudreuil will host a literary salon, a convivial gathering to read excerpts from works about Félix or texts inspired by his work or life.
In a café littéraire format, participants are invited to read the texts they have brought with them, then discuss the subject. It is also possible to attend without having prepared a reading. A surprise guest will take part in this edition! All activities presented at Maison Félix-Leclerc are free of charge and do not require registration. Snacks and beverages are available at low cost.
