The 2024 edition of VIP en blues will take place from September 13 to 15 in L'Île-Perrot. New this year, blues fans will be treated to a three-day event on September 13, 14 and 15.

Once again this year, the Ville de L'Île-Perrot has pulled out all the stops to offer residents a VIP en Blues out of the ordinary, spread over three days of celebrations. It's sure to be a lot of fun,” said Mayor Pierre Séguin.

Here's the 2024 program for the event at Parc des citoyens:

Friday, September 13: 5 p.m. to 11 p.m., the spotlight will be on young musicians:

- Seb et Jess: 6:30pm;

- Jazz Band de la Cité-des-Jeunes: 7:30pm;

- People's Gospel Choir: 8:30pm.

Saturday, September 14: 4pm to 11pm:

- The Sugar Darlings: 5pm;

- The Stephen Barry Band: 6 p.m;

- Mike Goudreau and the Boppin Blues Band: 7pm;

- Jo Hell: 8:15pm:

- Jack de Keyzer: 9:30pm;

“The Sugar Darlings won't be offering covers of other bands, but rather original songs from their repertoire. It'll be well worth the detour. The Stephen Barry Band is the oldest blues band in Quebec. Founded in 1974, it recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. For his part, Mike Goudreau will be making his first VIP en Blues appearance. He's a bluesman from the Eastern Townships who recently released his 25th album. He will be accompanied by several musicians on stage. For his part, Jo Hell appeared on La Voix, but was not chosen by the coaches. He is back in Quebec after 14 years in Texas. He's been compared to Gerry Boulet, and in a rare move, he sings in French. As for Jack de Keyzer, he'll be offering a rhythmic sound, perfect to round off the evening,” says Martin Lachance, host of VIP en Blues for several years and a fan of this musical genre.

In fact, on the Monday before the Festival, he'll be hosting a one-hour program on FM 103.3 devoted entirely to the event, featuring several of the artists taking part.

Sunday, September 15:

- Young Musicians of Canada: 10:30 a.m;

- Preville Big Band: 11:30 a.m.

“Sunday will be a family day. I'm really looking forward to the Young Musicians of Canada concert, which features several multi-instrumentalists. The second part of the show will be interesting for youngsters, as they'll be able to touch and handle the instruments. As for the Preville Big Band, they'll take us back to the 60s,” added Mayor Séguin.

A beer bearing the VIP blues logo

Another great new feature this year: Trois-Lacs microbrewery, a long-standing partner of the event, has created a beautiful can in the colors of VIP en blues. “The Perrot blues has a colorful label that's very reminiscent of the event. Inside, you'll find Juicy, our beer that made it into the top 10 best beers in the world. For those interested, it will be on sale at the IGA, Métro and Maxi stores on Île-Perrot in about two weeks' time, just in time for the VIP en blues,” explains Jean-Sébastien Lantin of Microbrasserie Trois-Lacs in Vaudreuil-Dorion.

Throughout the event, the Avenue Gourmande will be on hand for visitors to satisfy their taste buds.
