Cedars resident Joanie Lepage, 32, who faces charges of premeditated murder of Kevin Mirshahi and kidnapping and confinement of four people, was back in court on Wednesday, August 28.

During the brief appearance before Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud, the attorneys in the case, Me. Davis for the defense and Me. Cardinal for the public prosecutor requested a postponement of the case until Tuesday, September 3.

“We received disclosure of the evidence this morning and we need time to read it and continue the discussions underway with Me Cardinal and Me Langis, the two Crown attorneys in the case”, the accused's lawyer informed the magistrate.

The request was granted by Judge St-Arnaud, who demanded Joanie Lepage's physical presence at next week's court appearance.

The investigation continues

The events with which she is charged occurred on June 21 at a residence on rue Rolland, in Les Cèdres.  The woman is facing, among other charges, premeditated murder and forcible confinement.

For the moment, the suspect is the only one charged in the case, but other arrests could follow, Sûreté du Québec spokesman Louis-Philippe Ruel confirmed to Néomédia earlier in August.

On June 21, two men, including cryptocurrency influencer Kevin Mirshahi, and two women were abducted from the parking lot of an apartment building on de la Commune Street in Montreal.

Three of the four victims were found unharmed the day after the events, in the West Island of Montreal. However, the investigation led to the identification of a residence on rue Rolland in Les Cèdres, where the four hostages may have been held for several hours.

Kevin Mirshahi's body has still not been found, and the investigation continues.
