Participatory budget: citizens invited to submit their projects in Vaudreuil-Dorion
In 2024, the City of Vaudreuil-Dorion continues to promote a culture of public participation, as stipulated in aspiration 5 of the 2020-2025 strategic plan Habité par ma ville. It is therefore pleased to invite citizens to submit a project for the fourth edition of its participatory budget, between now and September 30.
Like last year, this participatory budget consists of a general component of $65,000 and a youth component of $10,000. The $25,000 Ecoprojects Community Fund will take place again next spring. This fund, as its name suggests, is dedicated to environmental projects. A total budget of $100,000 has been earmarked for citizen participation.
“The participatory budget is an initiative that allows citizens to familiarize themselves with the budgetary process. The citizen submits a project, and the city carries it out. The result is a wonderful collaboration between the citizens and the departments involved. Last year, we added a youth component to give 12 to 17 year-olds a voice in the process. I therefore encourage our citizens to participate in large numbers and to seize this opportunity to see a project dear to their hearts come to fruition,” declared Mayor Guy Pilon.
General component
Any citizen of Vaudreuil-Dorion aged 18 and over may submit a project, alone or as part of a team. Participation is on a personal, non-professional basis. Associations and corporations may not submit a project, as they have access to City subsidy programs. However, a citizen may submit a project and be supported by an organization or institution.
Youth section
This section is open to all Vaudreuil-Dorion residents aged 12 to 17, accompanied by an adult countersigning the form and supporting documents.
