Artist Diane Collet's residency at Maison-Valois will end on July 27 with a vernissage of all the works she has created over the past six weeks. The event will take place from 12 to 4 pm. The general public is invited to attend.

As she herself admits, “I've put in a lot of hours". She adds: “I'm currently completing a video to explain the progress of my work in connection with Le petit jardin improbable". This video will be shown at the vernissage next Saturday.

Ms. Collet has created 4 digital works and had them printed in 13 X 19 format. These pieces will be enlarged and placed on four public buildings in Vaudreuil-Dorion: the municipal library, the arena, the Chalet Valois and the Édifice de la Croisée for one month.

Description of two works at Maison-Valois, according to Diane Collet:

Les gardiens de courgettes

One of the visitors who came to see me during my artist residency reacted positively to some of my digital prints of Napoleon that were on display. He mentioned that he'd like to transform himself into this historical figure. Based on his pose, I created a small group of Napoleonic gnomes to serve as protective sentinels for an impressive zucchini plant. They are assisted by a decidedly funky fairy and a bee ready for a workout.

Oreilles en croissance

This work was inspired by one of the visitors to my artist's residence. I was charmed by her expression and depicted her as a gnomid (female gnome). Tulips emerge from her ears, inspired by those I saw in the Parc Valois community garden in early spring.

L'Atelier, a project involving Diane Collet, was built around the residencies of three local artists, who were or will be asked to create 4 works on a theme close to their hearts. Artist Stéphan Daigle began his residency on Sunday April 28, working on the world of fairy tales with his project Dans la forêt de l'imaginaire. He was succeeded on June 16 by Diane Collet, whose residency continues until this Saturday. Then, artist Ginette Malouin will take up residency from August 4 to September 14 with Il est minuit moins une... Ms. Malouin has decided that her artistic project will focus on the endangered monarch butterfly, in connection with climate change.

The 4 works by each of these three artists have been or will be exhibited for a month on the buildings mentioned, and then each of them will see one of their works remain on one of the buildings for a year,” explains Ms. Collet.

As with the two previous editions of this type of event, passers-by were invited to enter the house to meet the artists, discuss their projects, explore their worlds by contemplating some of the works exhibited during their residencies; or simply to discover this heritage house. Each artist has drawn up a schedule for his or her residency, which can be consulted at jesuismozaik.com.
