A severe thunderstorm watch with tornado risk hangs over the skies of Vaudreuil-Soulanges this Wednesday.

“This afternoon, conditions will be conducive to the formation of severe thunderstorms capable of producing strong gusts, large hail and heavy rain. There is also a risk of tornadoes,” said Environment Canada in an alert sent out early this afternoon.

According to meteorologists, the rain is expected to start around 4 p.m. this Wednesday and end sometime in the morning tomorrow. Sunshine and warmth should return in time for the weekend.

In the event of a tornado, the weather agency recommends staying indoors, away from windows and outside walls.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is issued when atmospheric conditions are conducive to the formation of thunderstorms that could be accompanied by at least one of the following: large hail, destructive winds or torrential rain.
