To give Quebecers access to quality infrastructure for sports, leisure and outdoor activities, Suzanne Roy, Minister for Families and Minister responsible for the Montérégie region, has announced investments of nearly $37.8 million for 34 projects in the Montérégie region. In the riding of Soulanges, financial support of $237,132 has been granted to the town of Rigaud to convert its sports field lighting to LED.

The office of Marilyne Picard, MNA for Soulanges, informed the media today. “I am delighted with this financial support for the town of Rigaud. Sports activities have a positive impact on both body and mind. I'm very pleased that our government is supporting this project, which will enable citizens to enjoy sports facilities that encourage everyone to participate in a safe environment,” said Marilyne Picard, MNA for Soulanges and Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister responsible for Seniors and Health.

The Programme d'aide financière aux infrastructures récréatives, sportives et de plein air enables a wide range of initiatives to be carried out, thus responding positively to the varied needs of communities across Quebec in terms of recreational, sports and outdoor infrastructures.

It comprises two distinct components. The first targets the renovation, upgrading, construction or development of infrastructures designed to promote physical activity, while the second specifically targets the development and modernization of outdoor infrastructures. Twenty-one projects have been selected under Component 1, while thirteen are funded under Component 2.
