Kristian Solarik makes his first foray into federal politics
Federal election 2025: first candidate in the running
Although the next federal election is not yet underway in Canada, we already know the face of one of the candidates who will be running in the riding of Salaberry-Suroît, which will become the riding of Beauharnois-Salaberry-Soulanges-Huntingdon. Kristian Solarik will represent the Green Party of Canada.
A true political enthusiast, Solarik is well known to local voters, having run for the Green Party of Quebec in the 2022 provincial election. In that election, he garnered 795 votes.
"As this is my first experience at the federal level, I started the process early. I contacted the party to propose my candidacy, and it was accepted. So I'm ready if an election is called soon. I'm fascinated by politics and I like to get involved in my community and my region," explains the resident of Saint-Clet for the past four years and of Vaudreuil-Soulanges since 2010.
In addition to his provincial experience, Mr. Solarik also ran as an independent candidate in the Montreal municipal elections at the age of 24.
Why did he decide to join the Green Party? "We share the same values and I have a lot of respect for this political party. I jumped at the chance," he adds.
Among the issues he would like to put forward in the event of victory are land protection, simplifying federal processes and machinery, and improving relations with First Nations.
"I want to bring a voice of change to the representation of our federal riding. I want to demand major changes in our system and our society.I firmly believe that everyone deserves equal opportunity. I represent all communities and cultures in our riding and understand the importance of cultural diversity as a source of wealth and strength for our community.I understand the importance of protecting the French language in Quebec and Canada.Protecting the French language is crucial to preserving our identity and values as a society. I'd like to see us work better with the aboriginal communities on our territory," he hints.
For the moment, no date has been announced for a federal election. However, with Trudeau's minority government, it's likely that an election will be called by the 3rd week of October 2025.
Whatever happens, Mr. Solarik is ready. On a personal level, the candidate is a sales representative in the Suroît region, as well as having experience in the transportation industry."I'm a kind-hearted person and enjoy helping people in their time of need.I want to advocate for major changes in our system and our society, and I'm certain that my professional experience will serve me well in the political sphere," he concludes, enthusiastic about the challenge that awaits him.
