Claude DeBellefeuille, Member of Parliament for Salaberry-Suroît, announces that seven organizations in the riding will share nearly $140,000 in the New Horizons for Seniors Program.

"My team has been very supportive of these organizations, helping them come up with the best possible projects. This money, $139,357, will be used to finance initiatives that will benefit seniors, such as improved access to digital literacy proposed by the Guilde des Tisserands du Suroît, or the purchase of a quilting machine by the Cercle des fermières de Sainte- Barbe to pass on this quilting technique to younger generations. Now that the sums have been announced, I hope that many seniors will take advantage of them. There will be new facilities all over the territory, in the four MRCs of my riding. Now is the time to get the word out about these new facilities and take advantage of these activities as close to home as possible!", points out the Bloc Québécois MP.

In the Vaudreuil-Soulanges MRC, the projects receiving financial support are:

- Les Aînés(es) du Lac St- François

Les Aînés(es) en Actions project in Les Coteaux: $18,306;

Through this initiative, seniors involved with the organization will plan meetings, dinners, courses and games for seniors in the community.

- The magic of words

L'Art aîné project in Coteau-du-Lac: $23,494;

With this financial support, seniors involved with the organization will plan and run collage-poetry workshops aimed at bringing seniors together to exhibit their creations.

The New Horizons for Seniors Program (NHSP) is a federal grants and contributions program that supports projects led or proposed by seniors, which have a positive influence on the lives of others in their community. For organizations interested in submitting a project in 2025, the next project submission period is scheduled to open this August.
