Another busy week draws to a close. Here's what's been happening in Vaudreuil-Soulanges over the past few days.

Artist Diane Collet in residence at Maison Valois

Multidisciplinary artist Diane Collet, a resident of Vaudreuil-Dorion, is taking up residence in the Maison Valois to create four works, which will then be exhibited on various buildings in the city. People are invited to come and meet the artist during her residency, until July 27. 

Until August 8: Club photo Vaudreuil-Dorion exhibits its best photos

Why not take advantage of the month of July to visit the Club photo Vaudreuil-Dorion's annual exhibition, which runs until August 8 in the multi-purpose room of the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges. This year, more than 20 photographers are exhibiting, with over 50 photos to admire. Enjoy the results!

A busy summer for Vaudreuil-Dorion cyclist Jonathan Hinse

Like 21-year-old Vaudreuil-Dorion resident Clovis Roy, 18-year-old Jonathan Hinse was in Beauce from June 21 to 24 to take part in the Canadian Road Cycling Championships. Despite his young age, this was Hinse's second appearance at this major national competition.

On Friday June 28, the Soulanges Minor Hockey Association invited its players and their families to the unveiling of their new logo. At the same time, the leaders of the sports organization took the opportunity to unveil the new colors the players will be wearing as of the 2024-2025 season. 

Cedars athlete to take part in World Track Cycling Championships

The Vaudreuil-Soulanges region was well represented at the Canadian Road Cycling Championships held in Beauce from June 21 to 24. A trio of local athletes, Clovis Roy and Jonathan Hinse from Vaudreuil-Dorion and Gabriel Séguin from Les Cèdres, took to the start line in the hope of a podium finish. Deanna Stellato-Dudek and Maxime Deschamps back on the national team

Skate Canada confirms the athletes and synchronized skating teams that will form its national team for the 2024-2025 season. The team includes five men, four women, three pair teams, five ice dance teams and three synchronized skating teams. Among them is a skater from Vaudreuil-Dorion. 

A successful 32nd family edition for the Seigneuriales de Vaudreuil-Dorion

The organizing committee of the historical festival Les Seigneuriales de Vaudreuil-Dorion, produced by the Musée régional de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, is delighted with the success of this 32nd edition. From June 6 to 9, this great celebration transported Vieux-Vaudreuil back to the days of New France, to the delight of all generations.

The MU organization gives a second life to a mural from the Arts-plastiques études program

The mural Racines, unveiled last March in front of the Théâtre Paul-Émile Meloche at the Cité-des-Jeunes in Vaudreuil-Dorion by the Mu organization and students in the high school's Arts-plastiques études program, was given a second life last week when MU posted a photo and video of the event on its website.

On Tuesday, July 2, Dr. Brian Nadler, who was practicing at the Hawkesbury General Hospital in March 2021, was acquitted of charges of first-degree murder and criminal negligence causing death by the Ontario Superior Court. On this Thursday, July 4, we learn that the doctor is filing an $18 million lawsuit against the Ontario Hospital Centre for damages suffered. 

New humorous video vignettes on organics

The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges is launching a series of three new video vignettes on organic waste, under the slogan "Pour que votre bac brun soit numéro 1! The capsules remind MRC residents of the best practices to adopt, as well as the materials accepted and refused in the brown bin.

Former Bourget Voltigeurs to pursue career with Carolina Hurricanes

After winning the Stanley Cup with the Las Vegas Golden Knights in 2023, former Bourget Voltigeurs William Carrier agreed to a change of address in recent days. The athlete will now play for the Carolina Hurricanes, with whom he has signed a six-year contract that will pay him a tidy sum of $12 million in total. 

A normal life...or almost, for Carolina, 15, from Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot

Carolina Nunez de la Torre, from Notre-Dame-de-l'Île-Perrot, was born with a congenital amputation of her left hand. She is enrolled in LES VAINQUEURS, a program for amputee children run by the War Amps Association, and participates in some of their activities. On May 26, she laid a wreath in tribute to veterans in Pointe-Claire, to mark the 80th anniversary of the Normandy landings. Apart from these activities, Carolina, who turns 16 on July 21, leads a perfectly normal life. Neomedia interviewed her.

Thirty years ago, the mayor of Saint-Clet and his companion were murdered

Exactly 30 years ago, on July 5, 1994, the mayor of Saint-Clet, André Leroux, and his partner, Christiane Maurice, were murdered in their home on Chemin du Ruisseau Nord. Three decades later, this tragedy, which left its mark on the small community, remains unsolved. 

Two travelling exhibitions come to Vaudreuil-Dorion, Saint-Zotique, L'Île-Perrot and Rigaud this summer

On Thursday, July 4, at 5 p.m., the Conseil des Arts et de la culture de Vaudreuil-Soulanges, the Réseaux organization and the project's collaborators unveiled the two-part outdoor touring exhibition, Contamination culturelle and Contamination Interculturelle, Odyssée migratoire, live from the Parc de la Maison-Valois in Vaudreuil-Dorion. 

A stop sign will be added on Chemin Saint-Dominique

The Ministère des Transports et de la Mobilité durable wishes to inform road users that an all-way stop will soon be mandatory at the intersection of route 340 (boulevard de la Cité-des-Jeunes) and chemin Saint-Dominique, in Les Cèdres. Work will be required to make modifications to this intersection, resulting in minor inconveniences over the coming weeks.
