The MRC suspends its general manager
The MRC de Vaudreuil-Soulanges has mandated the firm Loranger Marcoux and the human resources table to investigate its Director General and Secretary Treasurer, Guy-Lin Beaudoin. Beaudoin has been suspended for the duration of the proceedings.
Meeting in a special session late on Wednesday afternoon, a majority of the elected representatives present adopted a resolution to suspend Mr. Beaudoin from his duties with pay. The suspension of the General Manager, who has been in the position for nearly 15 years, follows a recommendation by the elected representatives sitting on the MRC's human resources table.
In addition to the suspension, the elected representatives asked that an investigation be launched to confirm, or refute, the allegations made against Mr. Beaudoin. For reasons of confidentiality, no details of the allegations were provided.
Sylvain Brazeau, mayor of Coteaux, opposed the resolution and called for a vote.
As stipulated in the by-laws, the vote was taken by a double majority. In the end, the resolution was ratified by 68% of the votes cast and 83% of the population. Only the mayors of Les Coteaux, L'Île-Perrot, Pointe-des-Cascades, Rivière-Beaudette, Saint-Polycarpe, Saint-Télesphore and Très-Saint-Rédempteur were opposed.
Absent were the elected representatives of L'Île-Cadieux, Rigaud, Saint-Justine-de-Newton and Pointe-Fortune.
Alexandre Lambert, currently Acting Assistant General Manager, will also act as interim General Manager until the procedures are completed.
