Sale of the former Canadian Coast Guard post in Saint-Zotique
At the regular municipal council meeting held on Tuesday, June 18, the elected officials of Saint-Zotique ratified the acceptance of an offer to purchase the residence located at 3125 rue Principale. The building, adjacent to the Plage municipale, was once occupied by the Coast Guard, which established a guard post there.
In February 2019, Ville de Saint-Zotique welcomed the arrival of this federal body on its territory, just a few months before the start of the boating season. Two years earlier, the Town had acquired the single-family residence for $207,000, with a view to fitting it out and leasing it to the organization. From this observation post, the Coast Guard provided water rescues and surveillance on Lake Saint-François during the summer season.
The agreement with Fisheries and Oceans Canada was for three years, with the possibility of renewal at the end of each lease.
More than five years later, the town confirms that it has received an offer to purchase the residence for $315,000 plus taxes. "With taxes, we're talking about $380,000," says Mayor Yvon Chiasson on the subject.
Leroux Vincent Pharand Notaires in Les Coteaux will handle this real estate transaction.
