On June 10, the Saint-Polycarpe municipal council adopted borrowing by-law 201-2024 to decree an expense and a loan not exceeding $3,120,200 for the construction of a school, the purchase of land, and infrastructure and roadwork for the extension of Rue des loisirs.

Citizens wishing to have this by-law put to the vote of the population (via a referendum), must sign a register specially provided for this purpose, at the Town Hall, between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. this Tuesday, June 18. It is particularly important to take this first step if someone disagrees with the by-law. Indeed, if the number of signatures is below the legally required threshold of 212, the by-law is deemed approved.

What happens if the threshold of 212 signatures is reached?

1. The municipality must hold a referendum to put the by-law to the vote of the population.

2. The Municipality could also decide, at this stage, not to proceed with the borrowing by-law.
