Attempted murder
A man was shot in Pointe-des-Cascades
A 32-year-old man was shot several times in the street late Monday morning in Pointe-des-Cascades, at the intersection of Chemin du Canal and Rue Centrale.
A citizen alerted the authorities after hearing gunshots. When help arrived, the victim was lying on the ground.
"We were able to determine that the man had indeed sustained gunshot wounds. He also showed injuries suggesting that he had also been hit by a vehicle. In fact, a red Acura MDX was seen quickly leaving the scene. This could be linked to the events," explains Louis-Philippe Ruel, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.
The man was transported to a Montreal hospital. Although his condition is stable, his life is not out of danger at the time of writing.
According to Officer Ruel, the events are not related to organized crime.
A large security perimeter has been set up in the area. Investigators from the Sûreté du Québec and a forensic identification team are on site to shed light on the events.
