To eliminate water discoloration
Green sand filter project progressing well in Les Cèdres
The municipality of Les Cèdres would like to inform the public of an update on the green sand filter project. On April 30, certificates of authorization from the Ministère de l'Environnement (MELCCFP) were received, enabling work to begin on this long-awaited project.
On May 1, construction work began on the washwater management tanks for the new system at du Fleuve station.
On May 6, work will begin on reinforcing the floor at des Chênes aqueduct station. Towards the end of May, the contractor will mobilize at station du Fleuve to undertake the mechanical work required to install the green sand filters.
Commissioning of du Fleuve plant is scheduled for July, followed by that of Les Chênes in October. This will be followed by a two-month running-in period to optimize the systems and ensure the distribution of color-free water.
It should be emphasized that the implementation of this dedicated project at both waterworks will guarantee a high level of efficiency in the elimination of iron and manganese, the main causes of water discoloration.
