Health Canada is recalling Insignia brand digital air fryers, analog air fryers and digital air fryer ovens due to a fire hazard. 

Anyone who has any of these consumer products in their home should stop using them immediately and register for the recall online at https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer. 

The recalled products have cooking chamber capacities ranging from 3.4 to 10 quarts, and plastic or plastic and stainless steel bodies. The INSIGNIA brand name appears on the top or front of each appliance. A rating label on the underside of each appliance shows the INSIGNIA brand, model number and other information.

According to the recall issued by Health Canada, the fryers may overheat and the handles may melt or break, posing a fire or burn hazard. In addition, air fryers can overheat and door glass can break, posing a potential fire, burn or laceration hazard. 

As of February 20, 2024, the company had received six reports of melting or shattering fryer handles and one report of broken glass on air fryers in Canada, and no reports of injuries. In the U.S., the company had received 24 reports of overheating/melting or shattering glass, including six reports of fryers catching fire, and no reports of injury or property damage.

Consumers should immediately unplug and stop using the recalled products, and visit https://www.recallrtr.com/airfryer for instructions on how to submit photos of the recalled appliance(s) with the power cord cut, a photo of the model number and the sales receipt.

Best Buy Canada will provide a gift card equivalent to the full purchase price of the product if the customer has and can provide a copy of their sales receipt.Customers who do not have their sales receipt will receive a $75 gift card.
