Poll: 42.3% of respondents in favour of setting up a special committee
On February 15, the Vaudreuil-Soulanges community was shocked by a tragedy: two women were murdered at knifepoint in a Vaudreuil-Dorion condo building. The sad event inspired last week's poll question for the Néomédia team.
During this tragic event, 68-year-old Elisabetta Caucci-Puglisi and 53-year-old Manon Blanchard lost their lives, while a third woman was the victim of attempted murder and assault.
The accused, 44-year-old Fabio Puglisi, was said to be suffering from mental health problems, which could explain the crimes committed on Thursday in the Vela housing complex. He has reportedly been found not criminally responsible by the courts on two previous occasions.
On Friday, February 16, during his court appearance, defense lawyer Me. Alexandre Dubé. On February 22, a week after the crisis, psychiatrist Myriam Leblanc ruled that the accused was unfit to stand trial.
Consequently, Judge Bertrand St-Arnaud followed the defense's recommendation that Mr. Puglisi be readmitted to the Institut de psychiatrie légale Philippe-Pinel for 30 days. During this period, he will receive pharmacological treatment to stabilize his mental health.
He will be back in court on March 25. At that time, the defense may well make a new request that he be assessed as fit to stand trial.
