Vaudreuil-Dorion tragedy: Fabio Puglisi charged with second-degree murder
Fabio Puglisi, the perpetrator of the tragedy that took place in Vaudreuil-Dorion on Thursday, appeared by videoconference at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield courthouse.
The 44-year-old, known to police, was formally charged with the murders of Elisabetta Caucci-Puglisi, 68, and Manon Blanchard, 53. He has also been charged with attempted murder and aggravated assault of an undisclosed third person.
Puglisi appeared at the Salaberry-de-Valleyfield police station. He appeared confused, spoke French and had a wound on his left hand.
He will be transferred in the next few hours to the Institut national de psychiatrie légale Philippe-Pinel, where he will be assessed to determine whether or not he is fit to stand trial.
While in custody, he is forbidden to come into contact with the third victim and her relatives.
Fabio Puglisi will be back before the judge on February 22.
