The 44-year-old suspect arrested earlier this afternoon, Thursday February 15, in connection with a double murder and attempted murder in a Vaudreuil-Dorion apartment building had been arrested a few months ago by the Sûreté du Québec. That's what a local resident said after the sad events at the site.

Colleen Baxter, who was met by a number of media on the scene, said she couldn't understand why the 40-year-old was able to move back into the complex.  "A few months ago, he was arrested by the police while lying on the floor with his head bleeding. Many elderly people live in the building and I don't understand why he was allowed to return. There was a lot of shouting and bickering in his apartment," she summarized.

The woman indicated that her husband had had some contact with the suspect in the past. "He went for a walk a few times with him walking the dog. I thought he was off and weird so I told him to stop doing it. The suspect offered a few times to help me bring my groceries up to my apartment, but I always refused. I told him my husband would do it," she added.

Was she afraid something like this might happen?  "We always hope not. The resort is fabulous and so is the management. It's unfortunate when it happens," she finished.

Mrs. Baxter was playing games on her cell phone and her husband was exercising when they received a message from their daughter notifying them of the tragedy that had just occurred on site.
