Members of the Syndicat du personnel de soutien des Trois-Lacs (SPSTL) have voted 77% in favor of proposed agreements in principle with the government. The vote took place at a virtual general meeting on January 31.

"The members were familiar with the content of the proposed combined agreement and found it satisfactory. They considered that there were positive elements to improve their working conditions, while adding that the problems in education will not be completely resolved, but that it is a settlement that will bring many solutions. We have forwarded the voting results to the Fédération du personnel de soutien scolaire (FPSS-CSQ) and the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), who will present the data at their respective meetings. We will wait for the outcome before considering that it has been accepted by the majority of FPSS-CSQ and CSQ members," indicated SPSTL vice-president Patrick Lécuyer.

The proposals mainly concern the sectoral working conditions of school support staff and the Common Front's cross-sectoral issues. Since these agreements are interrelated, a combined proposal was presented.

"I would like to express my solidarity with the school support staff of the Cree and Kativik school boards, who are still negotiating the renewal of their collective agreements," concludes Mr. Lécuyer.
