Despite unwavering support from the crowd, the Pionniers were unable to keep up the pace throughout the game, losing 6-4.
Comments at the post-game press conference were all over the place: "Two games in one week is a lot for our little legs", "We lacked energy", "Why didn't I pass the ball more to my teammates?" as well as the coach's repeated comment that "the chain came off."
The coaching staff's conclusion? Keep things simple, get back to basics, follow the game plan and maximize passing and team play.
Drawing on his experience, coach Marc Lauzon calmed the players' disappointment by pointing out the positives of the match. Among others, he highlighted the fine performance of Charles-Olivier Leduc in goal, naming him player of the match. The goalkeeper displayed an Olympian calm and always responded when faced with adversity. The team as a whole received the "perseverance" award, as the coaches noted some very fine flashes throughout the 60 minutes: Elliot Hallé's attacking breakthroughs, Alex Lavigne's relentlessness in the middle, Antoine Denis' involved presences, Isaac Martel's fighting spirit, Liam Leroux's flair and Remi Delahaye-Dupuis' defensive retreats.
