Claude DeBellefeuille, MP for Salaberry-Suroît, Yves-François Blanchet, Leader of the Bloc Québécois, and their fellow party members concluded their pre-sessional caucus on Thursday, January 25, following a tour of the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region.

The party's theme for the upcoming session is "Dignes de confiance" ("Worthy of trust"), reflecting the strength and loyalty of the Bloc's commitment to the priorities of Quebecers.

"Because Quebecers know they can count on us to propose and impose solutions to their concerns, without indulging in pure partisan self-interest. At a time when more and more Quebecers are struggling to make ends meet or are unable to afford housing, when thousands of small business owners and farmers are seeing their businesses jeopardized, when our culture, our French language and our Quebec media are being abused, the hard work of Bloc Québécois MPs is more necessary than ever. Faced with a federal government that is slow to act and shows little appetite for tackling these problems, the Bloc is keeping our world's priorities in sight and will continue to prove itself trustworthy, while telling Quebecers the truth," advises Ms. DeBellefeuille.

The MNA for Salaberry-Suroît presented the Bloc Québécois action plan for the next parliamentary session and identified 5 priorities that she will put forward:

- Respect for Quebec's immigration capacity, and its impact on housing, public services and Quebec's finances;- Quebec identity: including the impact of the potential ruling on Bill 21, the fight against hate speech, or the defense of Quebec culture, its media and our language;- Inflation: and its effects on the cost of living, seniors or the housing crisis.

- Environment and the fight against climate change: including the effects of recent government decisions and the imminent opening of Trans Mountain;

- Interference: by the federal government in Quebec's areas of jurisdiction (health, dental care, infrastructure funding, etc.), and by foreign states in our democracy.

"During the last parliamentary session, the Bloc Québécois repeatedly demonstrated that it was the adult in the room. This is our approach, the right one for dealing with the issues that concern Quebecers, and we intend to stick to it, despite a parliamentary climate marked by tension and invective. At the Bloc Québécois, we take our political mission seriously, respecting the expectations of those who elected us. I humbly believe that we do this very well, and that we are worthy of the trust Quebecers have placed in us," concluded Ms. DeBellefeuille.
