Alpine hiking: trails open at Mont Rigaud
Mother Nature has been generous lately, and Mont Rigaud has announced the opening of its alpine hiking trails. Three trails are now available in the heart of a mature forest. They are accessible on Nordic skis (splitboards), snowshoes and fatbikes.
The relative ease of the climbs and descents on these trails make them an excellent place to learn these sports or to do several loops in the same day.
Trails:
i - Big Loop - Easy - 4.58km;
ii - Downhill - Easy - 1.45km;
iii - Rockfall - Advanced - 1.25km;

Instructions to follow
It is important to mention that it is not permitted to climb along the alpine ski trails, except to return to the start of trail iii - Éboulement. A right of access (ticket) is required to use the alpine trails. Winter season pass holders may access the trails during the hours specified in their pass (e.g. Week pass = weekday access only). Trails are closed after sunset.
Pedestrians prohibited
Walking on the trails is not permitted, as it damages the trails (boot holes) and makes them unusable for fatbikes. For mountain walkers, the Sentiers de l'Escapade or the trail accessible from the Sanctuaire Notre-Dame de Lourdes are good options.
