CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest is proud to announce the completion of renovations to the Medical Device Reprocessing Unit (MDRU) at Hôpital du Suroît. The redevelopment of the MDRU is part of the many projects planned to modernize Hôpital du Suroît, representing a major investment of $200 million.
The MDRU is essential to the smooth operation of the hospital's healthcare services, as it is here that all soiled medical instruments are sterilized. Begun in March 2022, the 80-week project represents a major investment of $8.8 million.
More specifically, the changes made to the MDRU are as follows:
- Increase in the size of the URDM's premises;
- Dedicated areas for sorting, cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, drying, instrument packaging and storage;
- Creation of a unidirectional pathway to avoid cross-contamination;
- Humidity temperature control;
- Purchase of new equipment, including a cart washer;
- Fitting out the team leader's office with a view of the business area, allowing better access to the manager;
And much more!
"The redevelopment of the URDM, like the other modernization projects currently underway at Hôpital du Suroît, will enable us to better meet the health service needs of the population, while providing a quality environment for our employees, who will have ergonomic, attractive and bright workspaces equipped with state-of-the-art technology," notes Philippe Gribeauval, President and CEO of CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.
The redevelopment work complies with Accreditation Canada standards, the standards set out in the Institut national de santé du Québec's (INSPQ) Capital Planning Guide, and those of the Canadian Standards Association (CSA).
